I picked up a Seiko 6309 that was in pretty battered condition. The design of this watch is based on a design language that originated in the 1970s, with classic designs such as the 6105 that was worn by Martin Sheen in Apocalypse now (so is nicknamed the Willard). Initially I was going to go for something that echoed the 1970s, but actually this piece is from 1983, which in my view requires a slightly different vibe. I had in mind something with a Miami Vice style influence. For the sheer 80s energy i chose a shark, using pinks and turqouises to bring the neowave vibe. The original watch was largely black and steel. I decided to change the color of the metal to give it more pizzazz, pairing it with a bright blue strap to give it an eyecatching total package.
