Sea-Gull is one of the major watch companies in China, based in Tianjin. They have been around in one form or another since the mid-1950s. Their watches of today are well built and affordable though often mimic the designs of other brands. They are also famous for doing some very cheap and very god quality movements, and a number of micro-brands use their movements as their platform.

This watch is a modern watch I choise as a test to see how the painting approach would work on modern dial surfaces. Due to the crisp look I went for something that was subtle and reflected common chinese art subjects; flora and fauna. In this case a mountain pine painted in a faint green, brown and finished in gold paint.
